My roommate and I rented the 2 bedroom floor plan that had the bedrooms separate from each other so it was super private. Both bedrooms are the same size so we didn't have to worry about who was going to pay more if someone got the master bedroom. Quality of the apartments was really nice and maintenance was awesome They always came to fix whatever was broken the next day. My only complaint is that some of my neighbors were a little loud at late times of the night. Other than this, I loved living here

As a student that has to take the Unitrans bus to UC Davis, I appreciated that there was a bus stop right next to the complex. Always plenty of parking, friendly neighbors, really good staff and maintenance. The only issues I had were some of the bathroom fixtures needed to be fixed just because they couldn't withstand constant use, and there were often spiders coming into the rooms from the trees we lived under. Other than those minor things this was an overall great experience.

There were some issues that came up with the apartments, but they're older and they were very good about taking care of any of them. Renovations for the whole complex in the last year has given it a whole new look and have been really nice. My only real complaints would be that it is a little pricier than some student apartments and they charge a flat amenities fee that includes cost of a parking pass even if you don't have a car . Overall one of the best run complexes I've encountered.

I never had any issues with neighbors being too loud. Maintenance is incredible. They're always on top of work orders and often come by the same day. Rent increases every year, but that's to be expected in Davis. The apartment complex has really put an effort in upgrading and renovating by putting in new counter tops, redoing the fences outside, putting in laminate floors, etc. Great place to live, never had any issues. Really can't complain about anything at this place

submitted by Sophie C. - |Recommended: YesPricey but Pretty — The grounds are beautiful and I love having my own private balcony in the back. However, The cost is very high for the area, as with the almost 12 increase in rent this year, I am paying the same price as friends in San Francisco. The walls are a little thin-you can hear your neighbors talking and the cold or hot air seems to come right through. The screens are also warped and allow bugs to enter forcing the choice between letting in cool air at night or keeping the spiders out. I can also see light entering around my front door as it does not seal. The bathroom is large but does not have any sort of fan so mold grows quickly. The contract does not allow for subletting which is unfortunate, as that would help offset the high cost. I do enjoy the mostly quiet atmosphere and the chatting with the friendly staff. I would have chosen a cheaper apartment complex had there been any availability, but for the most part enjoy living in Portage Bay.

submitted by Madeline M. - |Recommended: YesQuiet, convenient, and safe — It's a pretty quiet place and my roommate and I have enjoyed our time living here. The walls are a little too thin to the point you can hear everyone and everything but other than that its a good first apartment.
